In Baku

Well, it’s been a very long time since I have posted my last topic. I was away from Baku for quite a long time in summer and then when I came back I simply couldnt find enough time to keep it updated. My apalogize to anyone who has bookmarked the blog.

This picture was taken during a walk with my friends Afsin and Serbulent last weekend. Afsin and Serbulent just got their tripods so we decided to go out at night to do some night shots. After shooting a recently reconstructed park ( parks in general are being reconstructed at the moment in Baku ), we headed to Inner City.. Then at some point while I was discussing with Serbulent about his problem with his tripod head, Afsin suddenly disappear. Then minutes later he came back and was quite excited telling us what he found by showing the picture he took on the LCD of his camera. The minute I saw the picture, I was hooked and we all headed to the spot. All elements was perfectly there from my point of view. The classic Volga, old buildings, street lights and the stone paved road. I have set my tripod and started taking pictures at different exposures as I was planning to make a HDR pic. But when I came home and opened the files, there was no need to.. Just a little tonal contrast was enough..

Volga’s have been the status of high class ( nomenklatura ) in Soviet times and recently this old models (60’s - 70’s ) again becoming popular in Azerbaijan and being restored by enthusiasts. Once they were selling for couple thousand dollars now can go upto $30-40K..

Pls click for the LARGE versions if this picture in color and b/w.
